Associates have volunteered their time with preparing the world class field for the event alongside George Toma, ‘The Sod Father’ who has been the lead grounds keeper for every Super Bowl Game as well as the Royals and Chiefs.
Netsmart had sponsored a team of participants in the program for the event which raised over 150k which will go towards sponsorships for veterans to participate in their 5-Day Revenant Journey Program.
Who The Battle Within is:
The Battle Within serves veterans and first responders with PTSD and other mental health crisis that can unfortunately come with their jobs. Their goal is to provide mental and emotional support to reduce the suicide rate of the population they serve.
- 5-Day Revenant Journey Program: Gives their population the opportunity to come together to discover what burdens them, allowing them to safely face those burdens and provide them tools to begin working at overcoming them via holistic approach and evidence-based methods.
- Frontline Therapy Network: Connects their population with providers for free therapy sessions in partnership with KU Health Systems, BCBS and Humana. This program started last year in response to COVID/isolation among their population and have helped provide 1,564 hours of counseling since its inception.
- They also work with fire and police departments to provide services to their officers and develop relationships and advocates within the ranks to provide referrals and cultural changes within their institutions.
